Dr. Reimer, our holistic healing chiropractor, knows that summer is the perfect time for getting outside to enjoy fresh air and healthy activities. Our Los Altos and Palo Alto wellness center has a wealth of ideas for whole body health, and suggestions for stretching and proper form to avoid sports injury while out and about!
Palo Alto and Los Altos Healthy Summer Fun
1. Outdoor Yoga—Yoga is one of the most ancient holistic healing systems for whole body health. It develops flexibility, strength, coordination, breathing, balance and more. During the summer, outdoor yoga refreshes the mind and body. Ask our wellness center team for ideas on yoga classes and even yoga retreats around the Palo Alto and Los Altos area.
2. Hiking—Hike through the woods, or through town! Our healing arts chiropractor recommends getting out of the car and exploring on foot when possible. Regular hiking and walking can strengthen your heart, lungs and muscles, lower your disease risk and burn off extra calories.
3. Biking—Biking is a great way to explore new areas; it burns more fat and less gas, so it is both cheaper and healthier for you and the environment!
4. Water Sports—Swimming and aqua sports are fun ways to stay cool and fit in the summer. Our chiropractor recommends water sports because they are great for a total body workout, and they are helpful for people with bone and joint problems.
5. Farmer’s Markets—Remember to fuel your body with healthy foods as you stay active in the summer. Walking through summer farmer’s markets is a fantastic way to explore local, organic fruits and vegetables and local cuisines.
No matter what activities you chose, remember to stretch and warm up properly ahead of time to avoid a sports injury. And always remember to stay hydrated and wear sunscreen!
