A Road to Better Health

As a group, men tend to have higher levels of stress than compared with women. In addition, bad habits such as smoking, not eating right and not exercising regularly can lead to major health problems later in life including high cholesterol, high blood pressure and a higher risk of heart attacks. Participating in a healthy lifestyle can reduce your chance for many diseases. Here are some simple tips to improve your overall health:

Get Up and Move! You might vow every year around New Year’s to work out more – you might constantly mention to friends and family that you really need to get into shape – but the most important part is the first few steps. Simply getting up out of your seat and taking a walk with the dog, going swimming with the kids or joining a local pick-up sports league is the first step towards a healthier heart, lungs and muscles. Due to increased movement in the summer, sports injuries are very common. Here at Reimer Wellness Center, we provide treatments for all types of sports injuries such as runner’s knee and tennis elbow.

Talk to Your Doc! If you haven’t had a check-up in a while, make sure you are visiting the doctor. Both your physician and chiropractor will want to check out your health and make sure you have a clean bill of health. Drink More! …Water, that is! Your body needs water to perform every function; at least eight cups of water should be consumed daily, especially after workouts, massages and adjustments.

Relax! Massage and spinal adjustment can help you relax more deeply than you have relaxed in a long time. By helping your body achieve a true state of relaxation, your mind will also take a break and the near-sleep state will provide time for a “system reset.”  Massage also makes chiropractic adjustments more effective and improves circulation, which in turns speeds up recovery time of injuries.
