Spring Activities That Cause Back Pain

Spring is the time to get outside and enjoy nature and the nice weather. Unfortunately, it may also be a time when you experience pain while engaging in outdoor activities. At Reimer Wellness Center in Los Altos, CA, we can treat lower back pain or other pain you might have as a result of increased physical activity, including pain from conditions such as sciatica. We can also offer you some advice on how to avoid pain-inducing activities.

Exercising Properly

If you hate being confined to a gym, at home or not, spring in California is a great time to start exercising outside again. It is important to properly stretch before beginning any exercise routine. When you fail to stretch, you will find yourself suffering from pain that could have been prevented. It is also important to get a sufficient amount of rest between exercise sessions.

Avoiding Pain from Gardening

Gardening can be a fun and relaxing activity if you do It right. However, digging, pulling, and weeding requires you to get down on the ground. Just like with exercise, it is just as important to stretch before you start performing gardening activities. And once you do get started, frequent breaks are always recommended. It may also be a good idea to wear knee pads to avoid knee pain.

Taking Long Walks

While spring is a great time to take long walks, those long walks aren't always good for your body. The key to completing them successfully is to ensure you are walking in proper form. Wearing the proper shoes also goes a long way in preventing pain. For many people, the healthiest thing to do is to take an easy walk as opposed to walking on difficult terrain.
