A variety of medical conditions and injuries can cause back pain. Most commonly, this type of pain comes from injury or illness to the bones, connective tissues, nerves, and muscles located within the spinal column. The spine is made up of bones called vertebrae, which line up, one on top of the other to protect the spinal cord that runs within it. In between each bone is a fluid-filled sac called a disc. This disc works as a cushion between the bones and helps to give your spine its flexibility. In many situations of injury or disease, these bones no longer align properly, causing nerves to be exposed or pinched. This causes your pain.
Misalignment of the vertebrae is very common and can cause muscle tension, cramping, shooting pain, and spasms. This could be due to:
While pain medications can help to reduce symptoms, they do not address the underlying cause of your pain. Our back pain treatment focuses on the misalignment in your spinal column that is causing pain.
When you come in for an exam and x-rays, we will get a better understanding of the underlying cause of your pain. We may then recommend treatment through chiropractic care, massage therapy, or other holistic treatments. Among our treatment options for back pain are the following:
Chiropractic Care: We will adjust the spinal column to improve alignment and reduce pain.
Massage Therapy: This therapy works to stimulate healing by increasing circulation in the impacted area and reducing inflammation.
Orthotics: Many of our patients benefit from custom-made orthotics that help to provide proper support and alignment to the spine.
Our back pain treatment may also include other methods of holistic healing, integrative health technique and advanced chiropractic care including the Cox Technique and Graston Technique. Each patient receives customized, personalized treatment plans to address their pain and to offer the support and treatment necessary to help them to recover.
